My nationality is British and teaching English as a foreign language has been my main career although I have also taught art and photography. Other jobs besides teaching have included: secretary, researcher, administrative assistant, assistant set designer, video production assistant, journalist for a community newspaper and radio producer for a charity radio station.

1979 7 O’ levels and 1 A’ level in Art
(I obtained English Language O’ level grade A at 15 years old. Other A grades include Mathematics and English Literature.)

2003 EFL lecturer at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. I taught academic writing courses for PhD Science students. In addition, I edited part of a national coursebook for Professor Zhou Shutang; published by Beijing University Press.
1998 EFL teacher at the following institutions in Oxford: Central Institute for Education, St Clare’s (IB) College, Shane School at St Aldate’s College. In addition, I taught British Studies and Computer Aided Language Learning courses.
1994-6 EFL teacher at the British Council DTO in Prague, the Czech Republic.
Materials coordinator for video, visuals and CAE courses.
1992-4 EFL teacher at the British Council ELC at the University of Silesia, Poland. Oral examiner and invigilator for UCLES candidates.


Interests

Computing: I like to keep up-to-date with new software.
Arts and crafts: I am currently learning how to throw on the wheel.
Animal welfare: I am a volunteer at a local animal sanctuary.
Photography: I generally take photos to document events but prefer to shoot land/skyscapes. I used to process my own photos but now use a digital camera.
